Are you dreaming of a family getaway to Menorca but unsure where to stay or what to do? Let me help you out! Our recent trip to this gorgeous Mediterranean island was nothing short of magical, and I’ve got plenty of tips to help you plan your perfect Menorca adventure.
Why Menorca?
Picture this: white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, sunny skies, fresh seafood, and a laid-back atmosphere. That’s Menorca in a nutshell! From snorkelling in secret coves to hiking along stunning coastal trails, our days were filled with fun, relaxation, and memorable family moments.
Here’s a glimpse of what we got up to:
- Snorkelling and cliff-jumping in hidden coves.
- Hiking the breathtaking Cami de Cavalls coastal path.
- Exploring the charming capital city, Mahon.
- Relaxation on the calm beaches
- Feasting on paella and fresh seafood.
- Enjoying the family-friendly facilities at our hotel.

Where We Stayed: AluaSun Mediterraneo
We stayed at AluaSun Mediterraneo, and while the reviews were mixed, we decided to give it a shot—and we’re so glad we did! The hotel had everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation:
- A massive pool (one of the largest I’ve ever seen!).
- A shallow kiddie pool and splash pad for the little ones.
- A well-equipped kitchenette for quick family meals.
- A kids’ club to keep the young ones entertained.
- Free and affordable transport to nearby beaches and attractions, including a land train to use the facilities at the sister hotels.
One of the highlights? A short walk from the hotel led us to a secluded cove perfect for snorkelling—a hidden gem!

Must-Visit Spots in Menorca
Here are a few places that absolutely stole our hearts:
1. Punta Prima
This beach is a family favourite, thanks to its soft sand, clear waters, and relaxed vibe. Restaurants along the promenade cater to all tastes, and there’s a cute park for kids. Snorkelling here was great, but we preferred Binibeca for underwater adventures. Don’t miss the Cami de Cavalls trail—an easy walk leading past beautiful coves, including Cala Alcaufar.
2. Cala Alcaufar
This hidden gem is a paradise for snorkelers and swimmers. Our kids spent hours jumping off the swimming platforms and exploring the calm, shallow waters. There’s even a lovely beachside restaurant, Xuroy Menorca Hotel – Restaurante, where you can grab a drink or bite to eat.
3. Binibeca
If there’s one place that felt straight out of a postcard, it’s Binibeca. The charming whitewashed village is full of cute shops and cafes, while the beach is stunning. With rock formations and clear waters teeming with marine life, it’s a snorkeler’s dream. We even spotted a gorgeous octopus!
4. Mahon
The island’s capital is a quiet yet vibrant city. From bustling markets selling local goods to the picturesque port area, there’s plenty to explore. A must-visit is Mercat Des Claustre, where you can sample local foods and shop for unique souvenirs.

Tips for a Relaxing Menorca Holiday
- Visit in the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October to avoid crowds and enjoy a more peaceful experience.
- Take advantage of local transportation, like the hotel-arranged buses and land trains.
- For the adventurous, try scuba diving or guided kayaking tours.
- Spend time snorkelling—the underwater world in Menorca is incredible!
- Consider boat trips for a different perspective of the island.
Why Choose Menorca?
If you’re torn between Menorca and another destination, let me make it easy: choose Menorca! It’s quieter than its sister islands, Mallorca and Ibiza, but no less stunning. Menorca offers something for everyone whether you’re a family with young kids or seasoned travellers.
So, go on—book that trip! You deserve it.
