Our Story
Keri and I ran an outdoor education centre, a traditional brick-and-mortar business. We believed hard work and word of mouth were the foundation of good business and saw marketing as frivolous and unnecessary.
The consequence of this view meant working long hours with any customers that came our way, rather than focusing on the most profitable and enjoyable ideal customers.
We eventually wanted a lifestyle and a business that allowed us to travel and work around our family. We needed to rethink our approach and our attitude. Rather than just marketing our existing businesses better Launch You and Stuart Ross was the catalyst that turned our view of business upside down.
We didn’t want a “guaranteed online business in a box”, trying to emulate a business that worked for someone else. Our biggest challenge was knowing what we could do online. We didn’t want to sell snake oil. One thing we loved about our outdoor centre was the good we felt we were doing in our community.
LaunchYou got us to focus on the outcome we wanted to create for ourselves; in our case, traveling and having outdoor adventures as a family. We reverse-engineered a business that would alow for the geographical, financial and time freedom to do that. It might have been obvious to try and sell subjective expertise in operation and risk management online, something I had done offline previously. But that didn’t really excite me.
When we looked objectively at the outcome we wanted to create for people, helping families spend more time outdoors, it became obvious in terms of the value we could offer. We understood the struggles of balancing family life with the desire to explore, as well as the challenges that families like us needed to overcome.
It put us in a position to give genuine and authentic insights and advice for anyone trying to get “a little more outdoor”.
Our online venture, ALittleMoreOutdoor.com, has become a hub where we share the good, the bad and the ugly on what we’ve learned as we try to spend more time outdoors as a family.

Today, most of our income comes from affiliate partnerships with products, services, and destinations we genuinely recommend when helping families travel full time.
This model gives us the freedom to work from anywhere, letting us travel more, which, in turn, gives us even more experiences to share. The work is creative, making blogs and content like this. The work happens when we feel inspired and able, and continues working even when we’re not.
We’ve also done some e-commerce and print on demand, and I’ve used the skills I’ve developed to deliver paid mentorship.
But don’t worry, we didn’t start with grand adventures. At first, it was just activities in the backyard. From there, it grew.
What is Launch You?

As with any business, investing in expert support often pays for itself. When we built our outdoor centre, we hired a technical advisor to make sure all our sessions were run in the best possible way.
Let’s go back to the house-building analogy. You can do it alone, whilst you pay rent and do bits and bobs on the weekend.
